Located about 95 km from Jaipur, Chand Baori in Abhaneri village is one of the oldest and deepest stepwells in India, built over 1,200 years ago by King Chand of the Nikumbh dynasty. This architectural marvel features 3,500 perfectly symmetrical steps arranged over 13 stories, descending about 100 feet into the ground. Originally designed to conserve water in the arid region of Rajasthan, Chand Baori also served as a community gathering place. Next to the stepwell is the Harshat Mata Temple, dedicated to the goddess of joy and happiness, showcasing intricate carvings and early medieval architecture.
